My Alternative to New Year's Resolutions

The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written. We can help write that story by setting goals. - Melody Beattie

Hey guys,

I hope your new year is off to a great start! I’m still recovering from a cold but so far, my new year has been great. I’m diligently working on setting my goals for the year. I’ve actually been spending some time praying and carefully thinking about them. There are a lot of projects that I need to take care of this year and I’m hoping to share the journey with you guys. Oh and I’m turning 30 this year! Oh gosh. I think when you hit 30, you are officially an adult. There’s absolutely no excuse for foolishness and people can actually ask you – what are you doing with your life?

Anyways, I’ve been reading a four day devotion called ‘One word that will change your life’. It points out the fact that 50% of resolutions fail by the end of January and 9 out of 10 quit by March. I can completely attest to this as I have set goals in the past only to forget about them that same week.

This year I’m trying out something new – instead of setting a handful of resolutions, I’m going to focus on ONE WORD and this will be my theme for the entire year. The most important step has been to spend some time in prayer so that God can reveal  the one word to me whether it's a character trait, a discipline, etc. If this is something that you decide to do, please feel free to share it with me so I can hold you accountable :-).

Like clockwork, January 1st always marks the beginning of a brutal cold winter as temperatures have already hit the low 20s. I’m seriously hoping to continue doing fashion posts this winter as I took an indefinite break last winter until spring-time. I admit, that was unacceptable!

If you have not splurged a little on some winter boots, now would be the time to do so but I don’t need to tell you that :-). In this post, I'm wearing a burgundy jacket from Kiss and Fly, a local boutique store at Green Acres Mall. The boots are from Shoe Dazzle and the jeans and bodysuit are quite old that I don't even recall where I purchased them from.

Thank you guys for stopping by. Until next time, stay blessed!
