Standing in the Gap

Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the one who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference.”

If you were to take inventory of your prayers from the past 7 days, what would they look like? If God answered those prayers, would they make any significant difference in the world or someone else’s life? In today post, I want you to consider a slight shift in how you pray. If you need any tips on how to pray bold prayers that move the hand of God, check out the blog post here.

Most often, we are inclined to pray selfish prayers that would only benefit us and the people we love. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with praying for yourself and your family, you should! However, your prayers should be expanded to included others, even strangers. One thing I love about my closest friends is that when one of us comes across a story of someone we don’t know on social media that needs prayer, we share it with each so we can jointly pray.

When you take time out of your schedule to pray for someone else, God will take care of your needs without you even having to pray for them. It shows God that you cared for someone else more than yourself that you were willing to stand in the gap for them. Jesus is our great high priest that stands in the gap constantly to pray to The Father on our behalf. If He can stand in the gap for us, we can also stand in the gap for someone else that needs our fervent prayers today.

We know that God daily bears our burdens (Psalm 68:19) and he asks us to carry each other’s burdens as well (Galatians 6:2). Today, think of someone that is more burdened than you and stand in the gap to pray for them!
