What Kind of Seeds Are You Planting?

Changes that seem small and unimportant at first, will compound into remarkable results if you are willing to stick with them for years.

NEWS ALERT!!!!

I’m beyond excited (and scared) to let you guys know that starting TODAY, I am embarking on a consistency challenge where I will be posting a blog post a day for the month of July. What are you thinking? I’m glad you asked.

Something strangely weird happened to me during quarantine. I became busier with my full time job (talk about more meetings, more campaigns, more events etc. etc.), I got a second part time job (doing some accounting work after my full time job), I became a full time mommy, I got a lot of work to do for Maliny Décor and WM Hope Foundation, and I did a lot more shoots for the blog.

The question I get over and over again is – how do you manage to do everything that you do on a daily basis? I’m glad you asked. Have you ever heard the saying, “If you want anything done, give it to a busy person?” I have found that to be very true. At the end of the way, we all have 24 hours and what we choose to do with it is entirely up to us.

What makes everything I do possible is simply setting schedules - it’s the only way that I can get things done without losing my mind. Setting a time for each task helps me know what I’m supposed to be working on at any given time. That includes setting a schedule for the girls too. I know exactly when they wake up, when they need to eat and when they need to nap and go to bed for the night. Having that schedule, also helps me when I’m scheduling my meetings for work.

This month, I wanted to challenge myself and try something new. I’ve been really good at working out at during quarantine but I’ve been slacking at doing my devotion because I’ve been so tired and falling asleep whilst putting the girls to bed. Last week, I told myself I’m going to wake up at 5 AM each day so I could have some one on one time with Jesus.

Waking up early before the girls wake up, gives me some alone time to do my devotion read a book (because knowledge is key). I’ve been trying to finish Atomic Habits by James Clear for over a year now and only got to chapter two lol. But this past week, just by me reading a chapter a day, I’m already up to chapter 6. By the time the girls wake up around 7, we work out together and then it’s time for them to leave me alone so I can start work at 8:30am. I love working out with them because they enjoy it and they think it’s fun.

About this challenge - I’m part of a Facebook group of fellow bloggers and our challenge for this month is to write a blog post a day. I have never done this before but since I’m here trying out new things, why not push myself even further to see how far I can go? Consistency and discipline have been one of my biggest challenges when it comes to blogging.I’m excited by this because it will definitely test me and my creative abilities. Yesterday, I managed to create a calendar and come up with 20 topics that I’ll be writing about in the next 20 days. Wish me luck!!

Right now, I’m not focused on setting goals but building a system that will allow me to achieve them over and over again. I’m trying to plant and water my seeds daily because that is the only way I can get a harvest.
