How to Find the Perfect Outfit for a Wedding Guest

Too many people spend money they haven't earned, to buy things they don't want, to impress people they don't like. -Will Smith

DSC_7240 I love weddings, who doesn't? In many countries, weddings are a spectacle to behold. Families go to great lengths to make the event a memorable one. Most times, families will go into debt just create a grand event that they cannot afford, to impress people they may not even like. A newly married couple should not start off their marriage in debt; one can definitely have a decent wedding without breaking the bank.

Speaking of weddings, I had the pleasure of attending one a few weekends ago with my cousin. The wedding was held at Valley Regency in New Jersey. The luxurious venue has huge crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling in the ballroom. The bride was beaming with joy and she looked amazing in her mermaid bedazzled gown. It was a Spanish wedding so you know they love to party and we danced the night away. I don't remember the last time I stayed up that late.

The groom had a surprise performance for his bride and it was so sweet and romantic. The bridal party did a variety of routines including one to gangnam style and it was hilarious. The only downside to the wedding (for us) was that it was mainly in Spanish so we did not understand most of the speeches. It was still a great event overall!DSC_7257About The Look: Finding an outfit for a wedding can be quite daunting but it doesn't have to be. The first step in finding the perfect outfit is to know the required dress code for the occasion, whether it's casual, beach formal, cocktail attire, black tie, white tie, etc. Luckily for me, I had this dress that I purchased from Lulu's a few months ago that I had not worn yet. They have several lace dresses in this color in different styles. To complete the look, I wore a pair of old turquoise sandals. I was a little taken aback by the two girls at our table that thought it was a great idea to wear flip flops and casual dresses to a formal event but it's none of my business :-).

I love everything about this dress! It has a non-stretch fabric and fits so snug. The maxi lace overlay creates a very elegant look and the high side slit is sassy but classy. The second step in finding the perfect outfit is to make sure that whatever you think of wearing does not draw too much attention to you and away from the bride and bridal party. I’ve heard horror stories of people wearing white to a wedding and being mistaken for the bride. Please do not do this unless it’s a white party event. If anyone does this at my wedding, they will be escorted out and it will not be by me.
