Examing Your Friendships and Three Top Tips for Styling Denim on Denim

“People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. When you figure out which it is, you know exactly what to do.” Unknown

DSC_7472When you reach a certain age in your life, you take a moment to examine the people that you have allowed into your life. You don’t get to choose your family but the best thing about friendship is that you get to choose who to include into your family. Sometimes your friends can be there for you in ways that your family cannot.Friendships like relationships can be seasonal. The worst part is holding on to a friendship that has fully run its course and then it starts to feel like work. Have you ever been in a friendship where you felt like you were putting in more effort into the friendship than the other person? I’ve had friendships like that and I realized that I was making excuses for why the person was not holding their end of the bargain so I stopped putting in the effort and needless to say, that was the end of that friendship.

One of the best poems I've read on friendship is "Reason, Season or Lifetime'. I don't know who the author is but a portion of it says, “when someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed outwardly or inwardly. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend, and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrong doing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up or out and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and it is now time to move on.”

You can know a million people but if you have one friend that you can share your entire world with, all your secrets and your fears with, then you have found the greatest treasure in friendship - a true and faithful friend.

Sometimes it’s not about the length of time that you have known someone that makes them significant, but the number of significant moments that you have shared together. I'm so thankful to God for bringing into my life amazing friends that have turned into my family. "Keep people in your life who truly love you, motivate you, encourage you, enhance you, and make you happy. If you know people who do none of these things, let them go."-Unknown

Photo Gallery DSC_7447About My Look: I have been meaning to rock an all denim look for such a long time and finally, I found a perfect fitted shirt and skirt that match perfectly. In this post, I'm wearing a midi skirt from Macy's. It's amazing how a front gold zipper can instantly upgrade a simple midi skirt into something super stylish. The top is old; you can get a similar one from  Zappos .  The shoes are from Zara, they are currently sold out in this color but you can still get similar ones in a different tone.DSC_7476I have three styling tips that you can use when wearing denim on denim:

Tip 1: Experiment with different shades of blue - this gives you the flexibility to flatter or hide some body parts. Darker hues tend to create a slimming effect while lighter hues tend to draw attention to certain body parts. If you are looking to slim down the hips, go for dark denim jeans and a light denim shirt is the best way to go.

Tip 2: Experiment with different colors of denim – this is a look I haven’t tried yet as I have a limitation of denim shirts in my closet but I think it would be cool to try it. Instead of pairing different shades of blue, try pairing different colored denim such as a white denim shirt with black jeans or shorts or you can try white jeans with a blue denim jacket, etc..

Tip 3: Upgrade your denim look – upgrading any denim look is the easiest part. You can start by accessorizing whether it’s by wearing a statement necklace, chic sunglasses, or super stylish belt. Statement heels are also another simple way to upgrade any look.DSC_7475DSC_7472DSC_7471DSC_7469DSC_7468DSC_7466DSC_7464DSC_7463DSC_7460DSC_7456DSC_7454DSC_7452Thank you guys for stopping by!
